08/31/2010 - A POLL watchdog mulled for a pre-printed ballot over the manual type for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections in October.
Henrietta de Villa, chairperson of Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV), said it would be better if the poll body will use pre-printed ballot just like the May 10 elections.
“That will be getting them used to filling-up the ballot in an automated system kasi definitely ang 2013 elections ay automated na naman yan,” she said.
She also noted that the pre-printed ballot is voter-friendly since the voters do not have to write down the names of the candidates.
“If it’s pre-printed, the names of the candidates are already there. That will be easier for them,” she said.
The PPCRV head added that it would serve as some sort of a continuing education for the voters on the automated election system (AES).
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is expected to decide this week what type of ballot will be used in the October polls.
The pre-printed ballots were introduced in the last May 10 elections when they were used by the Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines under the automated election system
